Installing the Frill Script with Google Tag Manager
If your site uses Google Tag Manager (GTM), you can install the Frill Script through a custom HTML tag instead of editing your site code directly.
Before you begin: You'll need access to your Google Tag Manager account and your Frill container key.
Get your script snippet
In your Frill dashboard, go to Settings > Frill Script
Copy the full script snippet displayed at the top—it includes your unique container key
Create a custom HTML tag in GTM
Open Google Tag Manager and select your container
Go to Tags > New
Click the tag configuration area and choose Custom HTML
Paste your Frill script into the HTML field
Name the tag "Frill Script"
Set the trigger
In the trigger section, click to add a trigger
Choose All Pages (or create a custom trigger if you only want Frill on specific pages)
Click Save
Publish your changes
Click Submit in the top right of GTM
Add a version name like "Added Frill Script"
Click Publish
Verify installation
After publishing:
Return to Settings > Frill Script in Frill
Click Check Status
You should see a green "Installed" confirmation
If the check fails, confirm your GTM container is published and firing on your site. You can test in GTM's Preview mode to see if the Frill tag is loading.
