User Management

Voting and submitting ideas on behalf of users

Team members with the right permissions can vote and submit ideas on behalf of users. This is useful when you collect feedback through support channels or sales calls and want to add it to your feedback boards.

You need Admin, Moderator, or Idea Submitter role to vote or submit ideas on behalf of users.

Voting on behalf of a user

To cast a vote for a user:

  1. Open the idea you want to vote on

  2. Click the dropdown arrow next to the Vote button

  3. Select Vote on behalf

  4. Choose the user from the list or search by name/email

  5. Click Vote

The vote appears on the idea with the user's name, and they'll receive a notification about the vote.

Submitting ideas on behalf of a user

To create an idea for a user:

  1. Go to the Ideas board where you want to add the idea

  2. Click Add Idea

  3. Enter the idea title and description

  4. Click Submit on behalf (instead of your normal submit button)

  5. Select the user from the list

  6. Click Submit

The idea appears under the user's name, and they receive a notification that their idea was posted.

When to use this feature

Use on-behalf actions when:

  • A customer requests a feature via email or support chat

  • You collect feedback during sales calls or user interviews

  • You're migrating feedback from another tool and want to preserve original requesters

  • Users report ideas through channels outside your feedback board

When submitting on behalf of a user, include context about where the feedback came from in the idea description (e.g., "Mentioned in support ticket #1234").

Tracking on-behalf actions

Ideas and votes submitted on behalf of users are tracked in the activity log. You can see who submitted the idea (the team member) and who it was submitted for (the user) in the idea details.
