Understanding idea statuses and workflows

Idea statuses help you communicate where each idea sits in your development workflow. Each status is color-coded and appears as a tag on the idea.

How statuses work

When ideas are first created, they have no status assigned. As you review and prioritize, you can move ideas through your workflow by assigning statuses like "Planned," "In Progress," or "Completed."

Statuses are fully customizable—you define the names, colors, and order that match your team's process.

When an idea changes status, any users who are subscribed to that idea will get a notification email. You can change which emails are sent in the email section of your settings. More on that here.

Common status workflows

Many teams use variations of:

  • Under Review — Evaluating feasibility and priority

  • Planned — Approved and scheduled for development

  • In Progress — Actively being built

  • Completed — Shipped to users

Users can filter and sort ideas by status on your Ideas Board.

Keep status names clear and user-facing. Customers will see these tags on the public board.
