Widgets & Embeds

Understanding Frill widgets

Frill widgets let you embed feedback tools, roadmaps, and announcements directly into your website or app. Each widget is a customizable interface that your users can interact with without leaving your product.

Widget types

Frill offers three main widget types:

  • Ideas widgets — Display your feedback board with voting, commenting, and idea submission

  • Roadmap widgets — Show your product roadmap with status updates and timelines

  • Announcements widgets — Share product updates and changelogs with your users

Each widget can combine multiple types. For example, a single widget can show ideas, roadmap, and announcements together.

Surveys (NPS, CSAT, polls) are a separate feature and aren't part of the widget system.

How widgets work

Widgets are embedded using the Frill Script — a small code snippet you install once on your website. After installation, you can create unlimited widgets and control when and where they appear.

Each widget has a unique key that connects it to your site. You can display widgets as:

  • Floating launchers — Buttons that open when clicked

  • Embedded frames — Inline widgets that are always visible

  • Popovers or modals — Overlays triggered by user actions

Next steps

To get started, you'll need to install the Frill Script on your website, then create your first widget in the dashboard.
