Setting up a custom email domain
Send Frill emails from your own domain instead of the default Frill email address. This requires configuring DNS records and the White Label add-on.
Custom email domains require the White Label add-on ($100/month) or Growth plan. You'll also need access to your domain's DNS settings.
Configure your custom email
Go to Settings → Emails → Custom email
Enter your full email address (e.g., [email protected])
Optionally add a custom sender name
Click Save
After saving, Frill generates three DNS records you need to add to your domain.
Add DNS records
Copy the DNS records from the table and add them to your DNS provider:
1 CNAME record for
mail._domainkey2 TXT records for
k1._domainkeyandk2._domainkey
Use the copy buttons next to each host and value to avoid typos. If you're not sure how to add records, check your DNS provider's documentation (links provided in the settings page).
Verify your domain
After adding the DNS records, click "Click here to verify email" in the settings page. DNS changes typically take a few minutes to propagate, but can take up to 48 hours.
Once verified, the status will change to Active with green checkmarks. All customer emails will now be sent from your custom domain.
If verification fails, double-check that the DNS records exactly match the values provided. Even small typos will prevent verification.
Troubleshooting
"Email is still unverified" — DNS records haven't propagated yet. Wait 10-15 minutes and try verifying again.
Verification keeps failing — Use a DNS checker tool to confirm your records are live, then verify the host and value match exactly.
Records added but not appearing — Some DNS providers cache records. Clear the cache or wait for automatic refresh.
Editing or removing your custom domain
To change your custom email, click the edit icon next to your current address. To remove it entirely, click the trash icon and confirm. Emails will revert to Frill's default sending address.
