User Management

Understanding user types: Team members vs. followers

Frill has two distinct user types: team members who manage your workspace, and followers who interact with your feedback boards and widgets.

Team members

Team members are internal users who access your Frill dashboard. They manage ideas, roadmaps, announcements, and workspace settings. You invite team members via email from your Company settings.

Team members have different permission levels (Admin, Moderator, Idea Submitter, Viewer, Read-only) that control what they can do in your workspace.

Followers

Followers are your customers or end-users who submit ideas, vote, and comment through your embedded widgets or public feedback boards. They don't access your dashboard.

Frill tracks followers automatically when they interact with your widgets. You can view all followers in Dashboard > Tracked Users, where you can segment them, view their activity, or manually add new followers.

Key differences

  • Access: Team members use the dashboard; followers use widgets and public boards

  • Management: Team members are invited; followers sign up or are tracked automatically

  • Permissions: Team members have role-based permissions; followers have widget-level access controls (guest voting, commenting, etc.)

  • Authentication: Both support SSO, but through different mechanisms

Followers count toward your plan limits for tracked users on consumer-facing apps. Team members don't count toward user limits.
