Setting up a custom email domain
Send Frill notification emails from your own domain (like [email protected]) instead of the default Frill address. This requires the White Label add-on or a Growth/Enterprise plan.
Before you begin: You'll need access to your domain's DNS settings and the White Label add-on enabled on your account.
Configure your email address
Go to Settings > Emails > Custom email (click your profile avatar in the top-right)
Enter your full email address (e.g.,
[email protected])Optionally, add a sender name
Click Save changes
Frill will display the DNS records you need to add.
Add DNS records
Add these three DNS records to your domain provider:
1 CNAME record (mail._domainkey)
2 TXT records (k1._domainkey and k2._domainkey)
Use the copy buttons next to each record to get the exact values. Frill provides links to setup guides for common DNS providers like Cloudflare, GoDaddy, and Namecheap.
DNS propagation typically takes 10-15 minutes but can take up to 48 hours. Make sure you enter the records exactly as shown—even small differences will prevent verification.
Verify your email domain
After adding the DNS records, click Click here to verify email. The status will show as Active with a green indicator when verification succeeds.
If verification fails, use a DNS checker tool to confirm your records are published correctly. Clear your DNS cache if needed.
If you remove the custom email domain later, Frill will automatically revert to sending emails from the default Frill address.
